Welcome to Gasthaus Markovic

Felsgasse 7, 1110 Wien, Austria

General Info

Tucked away in Vienna’s 11th district, Gasthaus Markovic feels like the kind of place you stumble upon once-and then keep coming back to. The location is easy enough to reach, yet it still has that quiet, neighborhood charm that makes dining here feel relaxed and personal.

From the moment I stepped inside, the casual atmosphere stood out. It’s not trying to be overly fancy, and honestly, that’s part of the appeal. Whether you’re stopping by for solo dining or meeting a friend for a laid-back meal, the setting works. The table service is attentive without being intrusive, and everything moves at a comfortable pace.

The menu leans into traditional Austrian comfort food, and it does so with confidence. One of the highlights is the Wiener Schnitzel-crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served in a portion that feels generous without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of dish that reminds you why classics never go out of style.

Another standout is the Menü Um 6 90 Eintropfsuppe Rindfleisch Mit Rahmfisolen Und Salzerdäpfeln. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say, but the experience is worth it. The soup starts things off warm and simple, then the beef with creamy green beans and salted potatoes brings everything together into a hearty, satisfying plate. It feels like a proper home-style meal, the kind you don’t rush through.

If you’re in the mood for something a little different, the Berner Würstel is a solid choice. Juicy, flavorful, and paired well with the sides, it adds a nice variety to the overall menu. It’s easy to see why regulars keep recommending it in their reviews.

Service-wise, Gasthaus Markovic covers all the essentials. There’s delivery available if you’d rather enjoy the food at home, but dining in gives you the full experience. The restroom facilities are clean and convenient, and everything about the setup feels thoughtfully maintained.

What really sticks with me is how genuine the place feels. There’s no over-the-top presentation, just good food, a welcoming space, and a location that makes it easy to drop by again. It’s the kind of restaurant where the experience speaks for itself, and that’s what makes it memorable.

What customers say?

“ A great place to visit, they do not speak English but that is no problem at all, you can easily use Google translate on the menu to select what you'd like. The price is really good and the schnitzel is absolutely amazing! If you're looking for an authentic local pub feel then head here! ”

“ We searched for an open place and found this local restaurant with NO english at all. Managed to understand what to order and were surprised by the size and freshness of the food.Very Austrian plates and were totaly happy to be there. Found out that only german spoken people come there. Enjoy ”

- Nir Feldblum -

“ Very good food in a nice and vintage interior, brimming with personality. We ordered one item per person and the portions were huge, but we could stop eating until we finished. The food came in a timely manner and a very thing was great The only thing I would advise is that they only accept cash as of July 2024 ”

“ It was a true viennisse experience for us. A small, rustic restaurant with delicious food. Try places out of the city center! They dont speak english but it was no problem. ”

“ Amazing huge schnitzels! Price is really affordable. The owner was very kind and although she spoke no English, we managed to order no problemo and to have great time. Highly recommend! ”

“ Very tasty and affordable. The service was very pleasant. ”

- Chiara Petiti -

“ Typical old-fashioned TRATTORIA. If you want chic service, skip this one. We had lunch at the same table as strangers, all locals (no tourists). The lady running the restaurant doesn't speak English. We had a translator, so we made ourselves understood. She was very kind in accommodating our requests. The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. I'd go back with my eyes closed. There's a fixed menu for lunch, but since my partner didn't like the option, she was able to choose from the menu. Highly recommended!! Thank you. ”

- Nicolò Marchesini -

“ I had a great meal on a Sunday in an empty restaurant. Incomprehensible, as the sauerkraut and smoked meat were excellent. Including a bottle of beer, it was only €18! They offer inexpensive lunches on weekdays, including homemade soup. Unfortunately, I'm just a tourist; otherwise, I'd be there more often. ”
